My dear children,
I am your dear old school; do you remember me? Do you miss me? I miss you and your warm smiles that greeted me every morning. I miss your waving hands that wished me goodbye every afternoon only with the promise to return the next day. I am almost 66 years old, dear children, old enough to be your grandparent. It is said that grandchildren fill a space in your heart that you never knew was empty. So, I eagerly await the day when this silence will break and your cheerful voices will fill the air again.
Seasons have come and gone this year and it is that time of the year when we celebrate Children’s Day. This year has compelled us to stay far away from each other. But you might be away but never distant from my heart. How could we not celebrate a day especially made for you, my dear children? I hope you enjoyed the online Children’s Day celebrations. The various games and activities like the Scavenger Hunt, Ramp Walk, and Talent Show etc. were especially organised by your teachers so that you can enjoy an afternoon of fun and frolic.
One thing I have always been proud of is the unique, avant garde ideas that have always been developed by the school, which has set an example for others to follow. Be proud of your legacy, dear children because your school has pioneered many teaching methods like – mind mapping, comic strips, constructivist classroom and so on in the city. We have been recognised and awarded for several initiatives by Tata Excellence in Education Programme (TEEP) and other prestigious organisations like – UKEIRI and the British Council.
But we are not the ones who gloat over our past laurels, are we? We strive harder each day to make new innovative breakthroughs. So on this lovely occasion of Children’s Day we present before you ”Gulmohur Chronicles” This monthly endeavour will allow the students as well as the other stakeholders to get instant updates about the events and achievements of the school and showcase their inventiveness. We know how talented you are and now we give a wonderful platform to let the world see just how gifted you are. You will also get a glimpse of the cherished memories shared by the alumni of our school, hear from your teachers and your beloved parents. Someone rightly said that children are the most valuable resources as they help us to reinvent our world. The very thought of launching the first ever enewspaper of Gulmohur High School, ‘Gulmohur Chronicles’ on the occasion of Children’s Day was to celebrate the innocence, playfulness and creativity of each and every child.
‘There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colours are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again’ Let this magical paradise come alive in every edition of ‘Gulmohur Chronicles’ hereon.
